Seminole Community Volunteer Program-VolunteerOpportunities Are you a people person? Assist victims of disasters utilizing your case management skills.Provide clerical assistance or phone support as a disaster response agency. Sort Donations: assist agencies sort donations for distribution to victims of disasters. Emergency Prevention and Readiness Outreach....educational outreach program, distribute disaster readiness brochures, help with community outreach fairs, attend and assist at speaking engagements for groups. Help network outreach for disaster readiness to special populations such as disabled, elderly, frail, special needs, language challenged citizens. Use your Spanish skills - Translate a brochure on emergency preparedness into Spanish? Flu Shot Distribtuion - Direct and assist citizens receiving flu shots, distribute promotional items to recipients. Mon., Oct. 3 State Special Olympics Bowling - 40-50 volunteers needed to monitor bowling lanes during competition - Altamonte Springs area Sun. Nov. 6- Sat., Nov. 31st Annual Golden Age Games various times daily, various slots for volunteers available in score keeping and event assistance A new senior educational program will be started this fall by Seminole County Dept. of Natural Lands. 4-5 retired and senior volunteers can assist two mornings per week as Nature Center docents at the new Nature Center at Geneva Wilderness Park. Artists are also needed to help arrange exhibits and paint murals of an eagle's wing spread and a serpent layout. Storm Drain Marking Program - Do you want to help educate your neighbors about where all of the storm water runoff goes in your neighborhood? We supply all of the markers and equipment necessary to do the job. It takes about 2-4 hours and includes educational program about stormwater pollution. Great project for scouts, homeschoolers, community service groups and corporate groups. Family Focus-Volunteers are needed to assist with Children's Supervised Visitation and Monitored Exchange. Help children who are unable to live with both parents visit non-custodial parent in a safe and structured environment. Wednesday, Friday, Sunday 4-7pm and Saturday 10am-1pm. Habitat Thrift Store-Organize and provide general merchandising assistance with donated goods. Help is also needed with cashiers, light maintenance, sweeping and weeding of planters. 911 Cellular Phones-Volunteers are needed to assist with cell phone project. Collect, organize, qualify and distribute phones to seniors and disabled citizens. Seminole County Animal Facilities-Clerical and customer service assistance needed-various times and days. Seminole County Museum-Assistance needed cataloging, organizing and alphabetizing books. Red Cross-Provide information about Red Cross Services at booth at mall, schedule participants for safety courses. Food Pantry-Organize, sort and distribute food. Library Volunteers-assist with children's story times, shelving books and straightening shelves. Watershed Action Volunteer Program-Volunteers needed to give presentations about the environment and water resources. Respite Centers-Activities companions needed to assist staff. Leaders for crafts, singing and reading needed. Miscellaneous-ESOL needs bilingual help. Legal aid needed. Seminole Community Learning Partners needed. Emergency services needed.
